Vacation to Switzerland-Lake Lucerne

During our vacation to Switzerland last August, when we were in Lucerne we were staying near the Lucerne train station.Just a minute away from our hotel was Lake Lucerne

As we decided to take an evening stroll by the lake, our first reaction was... WOW!!! It’s so beautiful…and then the camera and the cameraman went into action while the kids and I sat down to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the view... Hiya who was one and a half then, was very fascinated by the swans in the lake.

We did cross Chapel Bridge a heritage wooden bridge which was almost destroyed in a fire and then reconstructed. It's a nice old bridge with sights of swans and ducks in the river and pretty flowers running along the wooden rails. There were old pictures which made it a special.

Can you see that wooden bridge right across???
had these lovely blooms...

As we continued with our stroll…the lake looked so tranquil and serene. The water was so clear and we loved seeing the reflections of those beautiful swans in them.

my favourite...

and a duck...
Much of the shoreline rises steeply into mountains up to 1,500 m above the lake, resulting in many picturesque views. The sunset was lovely and we just could not resist returning the next day…even though we were exhausted from our trip to Mt. Titlis. Will share that soon. However before we got caught in the rains we got these shots:)

Steamers on the lake...

Thank you Springman for hosting World Bird Wednesday. To check out for more birds please visit http://pineriverreview.blogspot.com/ Enjoy and have a great day!!!

How funny to visit your blog and see photos of my hometown :-)
You really got a beautiful, sunny day and made some outstanding photos! The white duck has been around for some years now, it's a House Duck (no specific specie) - I have always liked the Mute Swans. Too bad, thou, that many people feed them all kind of crap just to take a photo.
Nice to hear that you liked the place.

  38. Wow, what glorious scenes! My dear momma, gone now...always desired a journey to Switzerland, and never got to go. These images are gorgeous, and serene, and the light that you captured along the shore, the beautiful buildings, just breathtaking wonderful! Then add in those Swans, how amazing is that, so many, so beautiful and the water so perfect in colour,...no bottoms up there. Can you tell that I enjoyed this brief glimpse with you. I must see if there are more entries too. Thank you, for this made m morning begin well~
