Vacation to Switzerland-Harder Kulm

Harder Kulm (1322m) is a small peak above Interlaken. From there to the south there is a wonderful view to the famous Berner Oberland summits: Eiger 3970m, Mönch 4107m, Jungfrau 4158m,Interlaken and the lakes Thun and Brienz..

In 1908 the Harderbahn funicular was built to facilitate the access to the Harder Kulm. The Harderbahn was completely renovated in 2008.It takes just eight minutes to travel by funicular from Interlaken to the Harder Kulm, Interlaken’s home mountain, where the restaurant, at 1322 metres above sea level, is reminiscent of a small castle.

Our last day at Interlaken last August and we wake up to a sunny morning and are happy for once after everyday being a cloudy morning...

not for very long...it starts to drizzle and we are disappointed and after a while the rain stops...
and we see the rainbow:)
a ray of hope and then the sun shines and we grab a quick breakfast and pack some for the kids and we are off to check out Harder Kulm.
a very steep climb...
The line describes a big curve with one tunnel.
a view of Interlaken as we climb higher...
a shot inside the tunnel...
we are fnally there!!!
a 5min walk up and a view to behold!!!
the resturant is reminiscent of a small castle...Hiya sleeps on in her pram...
I just loved the flowers blooming here...

Lake Beinz at a distance...

A closer view of Lake Beinz...

Vacation to Switzerland-Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe

The Jungfraujoch is actually a col or mountain pass between the 3 mountains, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in the Bernese Alps. The Jungfraubahn cog railway goes to the Jungfraujoch railway station at 3,454 m (11,333 ft), the highest in Europe.
We woke up to a cloudy day and were a litttle disappointed as we had plans to go to Jungfraujoch...a little later a light drizzle...more disappointment and then a little sunshine ... a ray of hope...we quickly finished breakfast and caught a train from Interlaken to Kleine Schiedegg Station via Grindelwald.
View of the landscapes from the moving train, a few moments when we get little sunlight...

the Kleine Scheidegge railway station...Hiya sleeps on:)
View from the cog wheel train-few visitors had decided to trek a short distance between the stations.
This was the final leg of our train journey from Kleine Scheidegge to Jungfraujoch.
Soon after we moved through the tunnels to reach the top of Europe.
as we go higher up more and more clouds greet us...
Finally the destination -Jungfraujoch!We were not lucky enough to enjoy a clear panoramic view from the top of Europe ...
clouds were moving in fast...
Just wondering how this mountain crow survives here...

and this tiny bird too...
We tried going to the Sphinx but just a few minutes of walk and the kids were really feeing the cold...I gave Diya my jacket and Hiya had her lips turning blue with cold so we had no choice but to turn back  and so only Arun went to venture out:) and this is what he captured...
One of the peaks..peeping through the clouds..
a closer look at the breaking icicles...

Glimpse of the peaks...deliberately kept humans in the frame to refect the scale(humans:mountains)
still no sign of sunshine...so it was not a very happy sighting for us...a light lunch and we head back via Lauterbrunne ...
at one of the stations...
snow clad mountains...
We even spotted this waterfall at a distance:)
