We
reached Interlaken, and after a light lunch we checked into our hotel at 2p.m and we
were trying to plan our afternoon as the weather was not very favourable with the clouds hiding the sun...
to go to Schilthorn...but the lady at the reception
told us that we still may have time to catch the 3p.m train and a last minute decision and we were off!!!We just
decided to take the chance hoping that the skies would clear...
The Schilthorn is a 2,970 metre high
summit in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland, above Murren.
a beautiful view from the train to Murren.Mostof the shots are again from the moving train and yes we were able to lower the windows to get these shots:)
as the train took us higher and higher the views got better...
a little sunshine...
can you spot that helicopter in the pic?
The views from the cable car...
Between Birg and the summit, the cable car passes over Grauseeli, a small lake.
the snow clad mountains...
a little sunshine here and there...
We finally reach our destination Shilthorn...and the weather changes...
a few shots and it gets cloudy and dark...and we even got the rains...we just pose for a family pic...
we were happy that at least we made it to the top and did not have time for the revolving restaurant, named Piz Gloria at the summit, which is where the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service was set. We just managed to get the last cable car which leaves at 6p.m in the nick to time...
As we got off the cable car...the rains stopped and skies cleared and we even had a little bit of sunshine and exprienced the freshness after the rains as we walked on to catch our train...
we get into the train and we start our journey downhill...
the cows in the meadow and the sound of the bell around their neck was nice...and after an awesome trip we were back at the hotel.
